2012 Spring Social
Carole Kaufmann, wife of SK Anthony Kaufmann, will be the guest speaker at the Knights of Columbus Social to be held April 20, 2012 at the Ritz Charles.
Carole is a Docent at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, holds a Masters Degree in Art History and taught 42 years in the public school system before retirement. As part of the evening’s program, Carole will entertain us with a 40 minute power-point presentation of “Early European Religious Art” found in the permanent collection at the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
Art is a reflection of the time period from which it comes. Early Christianity encouraged art because it was a lesson in Christian faith for the illiterate and pictures of saints, Christ, and His Blessed Mother were visual reminders that stimulated devotion. Today we continue to value images of saints, Christ, and His Mother because they aid us in making a deeper spiritual connection. Carole’s visual presentation will take us on a religious art journey from the 11th to the 17th Century.
Mark your calendars and plan now to bring your spouse or significant other and attend the Knights Social scheduled for April 20, 2012. Cocktails at 6 p.m., Dinner starts at 7 p.m.
